About Rachel

I’m an author, illustrator, and creator.

I am a writer of fractured classics (taking a classic story and flipping it to provide new/different insights or points of view) so that kids can see that all voices can and should be heard and old stories can be told with new perspectives and I create and share the fun/different stories that are in my head.

Growing up in Vancouver, BC, I have created and written things my whole life. I I love picture books, fairy tales, fantasy, science fiction, and YA novels.

I try to write and create as often as I can (Check out my current published books). I’ll sign up for classes in person, online, and anytime I can. Recently, I completed the Kids Comic Intensive from Kids Comic Unite! I love participating in local critique groups and have also been an SCBWI member since 2010!

Since getting my PhD in curriculum and education, I have explored the world of digital media. This innovative, fun, and challenging world has brought back my desire for creativity. I use my extra time (as little as it is) to explore writing and illustrating (or attempts at illustration).

Growing up, my favourite books were adventures, fantasy, and anything with a fairy tale style. I loved reading Roald Dahl and Dr. Seuss.

Some of my favourite authors today are: Roald Dahl, Lemony Snicket, Suzanne Collins, Sarah J Maas, and Eoin Colfer.

When I’m not reading, I’m listening to all musical soundtracks 🙂

Currently, I am not represented and would welcome inquiries. Contact me
