I’m an author, illustrator, and creator.
I specialize in crafting immersive narratives that take us into the minds and emotions of my characters. I bring my characters to life and allow my readers to step into their shoes and experince the different worlds through their eyes. Not just through action and events, but through emotions and inner workings, I want readers to feel like they really know or feel like they are that character. I create authentic and relatable characters in my richly developed worlds.
Growing up in Vancouver, BC, I have created and written things my whole life. I I love picture books, fairy tales, fantasy, science fiction, and YA novels.
I try to write and create as often as I can (Check out my current published books). I’ll sign up for classes in person, online, and anytime I can. And send my stuff around for as much critique as I can get.
Since getting my PhD in curriculum and education, I have explored the world of digital media. This innovative, fun, and challenging world has brought back my desire for creativity. I have been fortunate to teach a course on visual storytelling and educating graduate students on narrative design across medias. I use my extra time (as little as it is) to explore writing and illustrating (or attempts at illustration).
Growing up, my favourite books were adventures, fantasy, and anything with a fairy tale style. I loved reading Roald Dahl and Dr. Seuss.
Some of my favourite authors today are: Neil Gaiman, Suzanne Collins, Sarah J Maas, Rebecca Yarros, and Leigh Bardugo.
When I’m not reading, I’m listening to all musical soundtracks, watching films and series, and playing video games 🙂
